The classic Joy of Cooking rich rolled sugar cookies – they’re tender, not crisp. I wanted to make something a little different from the standard sugar cookie. Enter ground cardamom.

A childhood pantry staple, funny I never knew the ratio of cinnamon to sugar. This is one of those “it’s here so I have it handy” recipes.
I used to add a couple grinds of cardamom and a squeeze of honey to my hot cocoa, or my oatmeal (porridge) or cream of wheat, then my cardamom grinder broke (yes, I hear myself), and I think the other grinder (really, I do hear myself) is at the office, and it’s lockdown, and I don’t want to buy another “thing” right now, so I gave this a go.
